Internet users in India have been outraged by the ban on over 850 pornography websites. Users who use ISPs like MTNL, BSNL, Specranet and Hathway have been complaining about blank pages whereas ISPs like Airtel, Vodafone and other cable broadband providers claim that they face no such issues.
The implementation has been completed and the Supreme Court has commented that little has been done to prevent child pornography, which enforces the government’s actions. While the government initially declined making any such move. Times of India has reported that this ban is just a temporary one and it might be lifted after the introduction of a regulatory oversight. The list of websites that have been blocked were released yesterday.
Many are debating if such a ban is even possible. ISPs are claiming that since the location of the servers of pornographic websites were located outside India it is virtually impossible to ban pornographic content.
