In August this year six astronauts have made history by growing red romaine lettuce on the veggie plant growth system upon the orbiting laboratory in space. But space farming is already a reality that is made possible by NASA this year.
NASA is providing funds to the director of the soils, plants and climate department at the Utah State University. NASA is attempting to grow foods in complex space environment. They have focused on just growing some veggies like lettuce and radish that will help in the recycling of water.
NASA had been experimenting on a number of technologies in the space. Most of them have made their way back to the earth and ultimately paved their way to the markets.
