BUCKET LIST

Have you ever set a bucket list for yourself? 50 things you would want to do before you die or before you settle in life? Well, this is something so interesting to do and of course will give you immense happiness and pleasure.

Firstly, one has to understand what a bucket list is. It is a list of all the goals you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfill and life experiences you desire to experience before you die. One doesn’t have to fulfill them at their old age, before they die. You can go on with life and also keep fulfilling a few of your items in the bucket list.

 

Why have bucket lists?

Most of us are so caught up in our day-to-day activities that we do not find time for ourselves. All of us might have a list of things we would love to do someday, but are maybe just postponing it for some reason. Having a bucket list is simply like going on a trip/vacation. Vacation is for some self-time and happiness.

So is a bucket list. The objective of creating this list isn’t to instill some kind of a race against time or to create aversion toward death. The whole point of this is to maximize every moment and live life to the fullest. Well, who wouldn’t want to do cool things for one’s own happiness?  It’s a reminder of all the things we want to achieve in our time and do things that matter to us.

There are simply no rules for your bucket list. I think this is the coolest part. Jot down all the little and big things you would want to do in life; things that make you happy, satisfied and proud! If you already have a bucket list, you can refer to the points below and if they relate to you, add this too. Do not limit your bucket list to one number you have decided. It has to be everything you want to do. No round figures and no proper last number- 57, 89 or anything. Let it be.

A few basic things you could consider are- places you want to visit, NGOs you might want to work with, food you want to eat, and the list goes on. It clearly depends from person to person. So, do not let somebody think for you. Think for yourself, my friend. It is YOUR BUCKET LIST! Here are 30 things you might relate to. Look at it and make up your own bucket list.

  1. Travel the world– Most of them will definitely want to do this. One might have their own list of places. Paris, Venice, NYC, Amsterdam, Sydney, Beijing, London, South Africa, India, LA are some common places people love to visit. This is the single activity that opens you up to new people, cultures, places, languages, food and what not! All new experience, away from your comfort zone- this is life!

  1. Try a restaurant alone– One of your favourite food cuisines or restaurants. Visit it alone and enjoy the night with your first love- food.

  1. Experience an adventure sport

Sky dive, bungee jumping, Para gliding are some sports you need to try! Look for some places online where you could do this and DO IT. These are also called extreme sport. While the experience may only last a couple of minutes, those few minutes will be some of the most memorable ones in your life. We all have fears. Fear of heights, fear of spiders, fear of failure, and fear of rejection are among them. This can also mean facing one of your biggest fears- height, water, etc.

  1. Learn a new language– It is such a good feeling to learn a new language and converse with somebody in their language. Select one of the long lists of languages, and learn it perfectly- speak, read, write. Trust me, it is complete fun! How about learning a sign language?

 

  1. Achieve your ideal weight– Spend a week or however long is required to gain the ideal and perfect weight you always wished to. Contact a trainer, burn your calories but do not give up. Wouldn’t you love to see yourself the way you always wanted to?

  • 6. Volunteer for a cause

This can mean work with an NGO or join an event for a social cause- feed the poor, teach the illiterate. Do your bit for the society. It is a good feeling to make somebody feel happy. Volunteer work is one of the best ways to expose yourself to a new medium of helping people. There are tons of volunteer works from assisting the elderly, being a mentor to kids at an orphanage.

  • Run a marathon

A marathon is a long running race. Training and completing a marathon will not only develop you in your physical strength and endurance, but also your mental persistence, will, and attitude.

  1. Experience the marine life from close

Go scuba diving, it means. There is a whole different life underwater. Do you know that 71% of the Earth’s surface is actually the ocean? And do you know that because of the ocean’s depth, it contains about 300 times the habitable volume of the terrestrial habitats on Earth? Do not miss the opportunity to get up close and personal with the marine life — and see, feel, and experience the vast ocean in person.

  1. Learn a strategy game

Chess, Checkers; Chinese Chess are some of the strategy games that would interest you enough to not stop playing it. You not just learn to play one of these amazing games but also learn to build up a plan, strategy, and anticipate future actions, etc.

  1. Surprise somebody you love

It’s always heartwarming to come home to a nicely cooked dinner, to have a bouquet of flowers sent to you at work, or to even receive a simple text message from a loved one.Do it for someone. In our life’s journey, we meet and spend a lot of time closely with a number of people. Some remain, some move away. Take time to let somebody know how much you love them. Surprise them, gift them something or in fact, you could do a few of your bucket list items with them.

  1. Accomplish a goal

All of us have some passion or goal in life. Work hard and achieve it. It may be to do a doctorate in one of the many fields or to pursue a profession. It may take a lot of time and efforts, but when it is for your well being and happiness, do it with all the determination. Some people pursue their passion part time while some make it their careers (or even turn their passion into a business). I personally think that if something is your passion, then you should turn it into your life’s work, because that’s the most synergistic and rewarding path you can pursue.

  1. Converse with a stranger

You might meet so many people- similar or different to you, maybe when you travel or at any point in your life. Befriend them. Talk to them. A connection can start anytime, anywhere, in any way. Not saying that the next stranger you contact is going to be your romantic partner, but rather, that a great friendship can start in any way.

  1. Learn to cook

When it comes to food, nothing beats a home-cooked meal. Try some ways to cook some of your favourite dishes. This is definitely something very enticing- to cook and eat the dish you have always loved.

  1. Live alone

Stay independent and alone in a different city, away from your hometown, pursuing your passion or profession. You not only learn to be responsible and independent but also living alone often results in a healthier social life, according to science.

  1. Find a drink of your choice

Try different kinds of drinks. Go for a beautiful party with your best friends. Dance all night! Try a new drink and make it the most memorable night. You may not necessarily try an alcoholic drink. Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grapes or other fruits. A wine appreciation class will give you the opportunity to try different types of wine.

16. Road trip with loved ones

While some would consider a road trip as tiring, a road trip can actually be fun, especially when accompanied by the right people. Take a road trip with your best friends (BFFs). Imagine going on a trip to Goa with your 4 best friends- just you guys hanging out and having the time of your lives together. More like a Bachelor’s party!

  1. Learn to drive manual

Learn to drive a car (manual of course). Buy a car when you are financially independent and learn to drive. Go on long drives with friends or alone. You will be so proud of yourself- trust me.

  1. See your favourite artist live

I cannot imagine meeting my favorite celebrities live. It sounds so much fun already. Can’t think of how much fun it really would be. Rather than just dream about meeting someone, how about making it happen?images (2)

  1. Stay up until sunrise

Sunrises and sunsets are some of the most beautiful gifts from nature. And the best thing? We get themfree every day. Watch the dark beautiful sky full of stars turn slowly to yellowish orange. Stay up all night, watching the sky and star gazing. And read books, listen to music, watch your favourite show all under the night sky. Isn’t it beautiful to gaze into a sky that’s filled with beautiful stars?

20. Try a new hobby

A hobby is a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one’s leisure time. Hobbies can include collecting themed items and objects, engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, playing sports, or pursuing other amusements. Choose a hobby depending on your interest and try it. Photography is what I have been dreaming to try.

  1. Orate in front of a huge crowd

Public speaking is known to be the greatest fear of most people. I had been very scared to address a huge crowd since I was at school- wondering if I would make stupid mistakes and blabber nonsensical stuff. It took me a long time to get over this fear. I still don’t feel I could be there on stage with all the confidence and no fear. Well, if you are like me, I think you should challenge yourself and overcome this silly thing.

  1. Throw a huge party

Invite all your friends from school, Grad College and all your acquaintances and throw a mega party. Throwing a mega party is not just about the drinks, it should be about having the right company — people whom you enjoy hanging around and who are great to converse with. Plan ahead, identify a venue, invite your people and enjoy the day!

  1. Get a complete makeover

Find a new look for yourself. Probably, a new hairstyle, hair colour, new clothes (wardrobe). If you feel a little stagnant in your life right now, consider a makeover. Permanent change in life needs to happen from inside out. Working out on a better physique is also a makeover!

  1. Learn a new musical instrument

Who doesn’t like music? All of us certainly do. Try and learn to play a musical instrument.   1. Learn to fight

Be it a martial art or boxing, go and admit yourself in one of the nearest centers and join them. Not only do martial arts help you to defend yourself, it also improves your physical fitness, perseverance, honor, self-discipline, and self-development.download (3)

Writing in general helps you disentangle your thoughts. Journaling takes it to a new level.You understand yourself and your feelings a little better when you write it down. It has helped me monitor the condition of my heart. Why don’t you try it yourself?

27. Create your dream home

You don’t need to be a millionaire to create your dream home, for there are lots of cheap yet creative furnishing options these days. All of us would have planned a 100 different dream homes. Choose one of them and create it. No matter how old you get, you definitely have all the freedom to make your own house.

28. See snow

If you haven’t seen snow before, see it now! Try skiing. These are some must do in life. Remember to plan your trip. For some temperate countries, snow does not happen every year, so check the local weather forecasts and plan your trip accordingly.

  1. You know what would be the last but the best thing to do? Tell 10 others about your bucket list and encourage them to do so. Once you have experienced all of it, you wouldn’t think twice to tell people about it. You can also schedule a session to discuss your lists together and build on them!
