Like all other astronauts, Buzz Aldrin too filed an expense report and a customs form when he returned from his trip to the moon. Here are some Buzz Aldrin Facts. He is only the second person to step on the moon after Neil Armstrong. The scans of the paperwork were recently shared on Facebook and they contain the signatures of the astronaut and also the Honolulu customs inspector.

The itineraries state that Aldrin traveled from Florida to Moon, then to the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii and back to the Houston Space station. There is also a spelling mistake in the travel voucher! Aldrin traveled in the USS Hornet along with the Apollo 11 crew after they reached the Pacific.

Buzz Aldrin was reimbursed $33.31 which amounts to approximately $215 as per the current dollar valuation. This amount was used to reimburse the expenses that were incurred by him to drive his car to and from the Ellington Air Force Base in Houston.

Interestingly, this comes at a time when even MP’s in countries like Britain charge as much as 3,00 pounds a day for travel expenses.

The Other Side of the Story – Customs Clearance of Buzz Aldrin

That was not what was there Buzz Aldrin Facts trip. When he came back from the moon, he even had to clear the customs and had to declare all that he had brought from the moon, including all the rocks. While this does seem strange, the practice continues even today and astronauts have to declare their belongings after coming back.
